Swifly began during my final year at university, when I started thinking seriously about the job market and what opportunities really looked like after graduating. I noticed something frustrating. Many entry-level jobs didn’t pay nearly enough for the work or qualifications they required, while others seemed to depend heavily on connections and networks that not everyone had access to. That made me think about something simpler. What if people could just use the skills they already have and connect directly with others who need them? Swifly was built around that idea: a platform where everyday skills can turn into real opportunities.

For young people the situation is even more difficult. Youth unemployment has hovered around 58–62% in recent years, meaning more than half of young South Africans who want work cannot find it.
